Well, I guess I should be releasing Christmas or “Seasonal” songs but I don’t. It’s not that I have anything against them, I just haven’t found a way to say what I think about things.
It’s best to listen to this track all the way through. It doesn’t make much sense if you don’t. I know this is the short attention span age, but..give it a shot. In one review of me, the complaint was I took tooo long for the intro and outro. But these were reviewd by pop artist producers.
This starts out with a vocoderized, Manhatten Transfer-esque vocal section, then starts groovin to an electronic-jazz fusion song with a simple melody and sax solo. The guitar parts change slightly as the song goes on to add to some movement, but I didn’t put them really high in the mix.
This was produced partly in Live, partly in Logic, with possibly some sounds from a Triton Rack. I again used the IK Multimedia T-Racks plug ins for mastering. The Strat was run through some of the amp modelers in Logic.
I was influenced early on by Weather Report and Joe Farrell. I liked the muscle of Weather Report (before Jaco), from the Mysterious Traveler era and the Joe Farrell records, some of them with Joe Beck are really killer, especially Upon This Rock and Moon Germs.
The intro Was a result of some testing I was doing with the vocoder for a house track I was asked to work on. I am not sure if I am the only one who can understand the words, maybe just because I wrote them.
